SBC Medical Group former executive arrested for fraud

Daisuke Mimura, the former head of business strategy for SBC Medical Group—the operator of Shonan Beauty Clinic—has been arrested by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police on suspicion of breach of trust.

Between 2021 and 2023, Mimura allegedly conspired with the president of an event planning company in Minato, Tokyo, to place fictitious orders for website security services. In one instance, approximately 13 million yen was paid out, with 70 percent of that amount reportedly returned to Mimura as a kickback.

Authorities believe Mimura repeatedly used this method with multiple partner companies. While the specific fraudulent order cited involves 13 million yen in damages, reports suggest the total loss to the group could reach nearly 600 million yen. Investigators believe Mimura received approximately 300 million yen in total kickbacks, which he allegedly used to purchase luxury vehicles and fund visits to membership lounges.
