SBI agent shot in Reidsville during search for suspect

A North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) agent is in stable condition after being shot in the leg during an operation in Reidsville. The incident occurred on Saturday while agents were searching for Marvin D. White, 38, who was accused of firing at Rockingham County sheriff’s deputies.

According to the SBI, White initially fired at deputies on Walker Street before fleeing. During a subsequent search for the suspect, an SBI Special Agent located White and ordered him to drop his weapon. White allegedly fired at the agent, who then returned fire. The wounded agent, a 10-year veteran on the SBI Special Response Team, was transported to Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

White was arrested at the scene and faces multiple criminal charges. SBI Director Chip Hawley visited the agent and his family at the hospital following the shooting.
