SBI Group launches blockchain tokenization of Japanese high‑dividend equity fund
SBI Global Asset Management (SBI GAM) and Singapore‑based digital‑asset exchange DigiFT have issued the JX token, the world’s first tokenized Japanese equity fund. The token tracks SBI Asset Management’s high‑dividend Japan equity strategy and is built on the Solana blockchain, giving accredited and institutional investors on‑chain access to the fund and enabling 24/7 trading.
The partnership also incorporates SBI’s yen‑backed stablecoin JPYSC, a trust‑bank‑issued stablecoin launched by SBI Shinsei Trust Bank. A joint proof‑of‑concept with Startale Group demonstrated end‑to‑end settlement and on‑chain dividend distribution using JPYSC, showing how tokenized securities can achieve near‑instant finality and automated payouts.
DigiFT provides regulated infrastructure, holding licences from Singapore’s Monetary Authority and Hong Kong’s Securities Futures Commission, while SBI Group continues expanding its blockchain initiatives, including a planned joint venture “SBI Onchain” and collaborations with Ripple. The tokenization effort aims to streamline capital‑efficiency for Japanese equities and open the market to global institutional investors.
