SBI Holdings Reaffirms $41.2 B Ripple Stake Despite XRP Slump
SBI Holdings reaffirmed its ¥6.6 trillion (about $41.2 billion) stake in Ripple during its first‑quarter earnings presentation, even as XRP prices fell and the broader cryptocurrency market remained sluggish. The Japanese financial group reported record first‑quarter results, with revenue of ¥571 billion, profit before tax of ¥225.8 billion and net profit of ¥148.1 billion, up 149.9% year‑on‑year. SBI highlighted the strategic value of its Ripple investment and said it had not reduced the holding.
The company linked the market slowdown to uncertainty surrounding the U.S. “Clarity Act,” legislation intended to clarify federal oversight of digital assets. The United States Senate is debating the bill ahead of an August recess, with senators such as Cynthia Lummis noting its pending floor time. SBI expects the regulatory outcome to influence the crypto sector and continues to expand its digital‑asset services, including crypto lending, stablecoin offerings, and a planned acquisition of Bitbank.
