Japan health initiatives focus on digital wellness and physical care

Various health and wellness initiatives are being highlighted across Japan, ranging from municipal digital health programs to corporate wellness experiences.

In Sagae City, Yamagata Prefecture, the ‘Sagae No-che!’ app allows residents aged 65 and older to earn points for walking, brain training, and attending dementia prevention classes. These points can be exchanged for local gift certificates. Similarly, Naruto City in Tokushima Prefecture has expanded its ‘Ninarupo’ health point program to include residents aged 40 and older, rewarding activities such as health checkups and community participation.

In the private sector, Well Body will participate in SBI Securities’ ‘Asset Management Festival 2026 – Autumn’ at the Tokyo International Forum on September 27. The company will offer free stretching sessions led by physical and occupational therapists through its ‘Offi-Stretch’ service, aiming to promote physical health alongside financial planning.

Additionally, a survey by Beauty Mission revealed that 58% of women who have undergone cosmetic medical procedures expressed dissatisfaction, primarily citing a lack of lasting effects and high costs as major barriers to continued use.
