SBMA authorizes SBITC to collect wharfage fees online
The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) has entered into a memorandum of agreement with the Subic Bay International Terminal Corporation (SBITC) to authorize the collection of wharfage fees via online payment platforms.
Signed by SBMA Chairman Eduardo Jose L. Aliño and SBITC Head of Management Services and Government Affairs Henry Dungca, the partnership aims to streamline port operations by reducing face-to-face interactions and waiting times for clients. The initiative is intended to simplify business processes at the Port of Subic and bolster investor confidence as part of the broader Luzon Economic Corridor project, which seeks to integrate Subic, Clark, Manila, and Batangas into a unified trade gateway.
SBITC, a subsidiary of ICTSI, will manage the collection and ensure transparent remittances to the SBMA. SBITC currently operates the New Container Terminals (NCT-1 and NCT-2) under a concession extension that runs through 2058.
