SBPC advocates for social security rights for Brazilian postgraduates

The Sociedade Brasileira para o Progresso da Ciência (SBPC) has approved a motion calling for the recognition of social security rights for Brazilian postgraduate students. The motion was passed during the organization's 78th Annual Meeting held in Niterói.

The document emphasizes that postgraduate students are responsible for approximately 90% of the country's scientific production, contributing significantly to technological, economic, and social development. Despite this role, the SBPC notes that these researchers remain unprotected regarding fundamental rights such as sick leave, maternity and paternity leave, disability coverage, and retirement.
