SBS drama 'There is a Chance' scheduling delayed amid controversy
The SBS drama 'There is a Chance', starring Lee Je-hoon and Ha-young, has been removed from the network's first-half programming lineup for next year. The production, a comedic legal detective series based on a Japanese TV Asahi drama, had originally targeted a February 2027 release.
The scheduling shift follows controversy surrounding actress Ha-young regarding her great-grandfather's alleged pro-Japanese activities during the colonial era. Ha-young previously issued a handwritten apology, acknowledging the historical context of her ancestor's actions. Following the controversy, she withdrew from upcoming seasons of the Netflix series 'Trauma Center'.
While the drama has already completed filming, SBS stated that they are considering various options due to the situation, though a specific broadcast date has not been confirmed. The decision is complicated by the fact that the series is a remake of a Japanese production, which could create additional sensitivity regarding the timing of its release.
