SBS The Feed hosts debate on childfree lifestyles and birth rates

SBS’s current affairs program, The Feed, hosted a debate addressing Australia’s declining birth rate. The discussion featured a panel of six participants divided between childfree advocates and conservative commentators.

Advocates for a childfree lifestyle included model Ellie Gonsalves, comedian Andrew Lewis, and content creator Dita. Opposing them were anti-abortion activist Elspeth McKellar, George Mamalis of Turning Point USA, and Stephanie Bastiaan of the Women’s Forum.

Moderator and producer Elfy Scott stated the goal was to facilitate open conversation outside of polarizing online algorithms. Scott noted that despite the differing viewpoints, there were “surprising moments of agreement from both sides of the panel.”
