SBT to broadcast Mexican telenovela Marimar

The Brazilian television network SBT will premiere the Mexican telenovela ‘Marimar’ on Monday, October 26, at 14:15 as part of its ‘Novelas da Tarde’ programming block. Starring Thalia, the production is a central part of the famous ‘Trilogia das Marias’, which also includes ‘Maria Mercedes’ and ‘Maria do Bairro’.

The plot follows Marimar, a humble young woman living in a fishing village with her grandparents. After marrying Sergio Santibáñez, the son of a wealthy farmer, she faces severe persecution and humiliation from Sergio’s father, Renato, and his stepmother, Angélica. Following a false accusation of theft and a criminal fire that destroys her grandparents' home, Marimar undergoes a transformation, returning as the sophisticated and wealthy Bela Aldama to seek revenge against those who wronged her.

‘Marimar’ will replace the production ‘Desalmada’ in the network's schedule, though ‘Desalmada’ will remain on air for a few days during the initial transition period.
