SC Freiburg to compete in 2026/27 UEFA Conference League

SC Freiburg is the sole German club participating in the UEFA Conference League for the 2026/27 season. After qualifying through the play-offs by defeating Scotland's FC Motherwell, the team enters the league phase under a format that features six matches per team instead of the eight played in the Champions League and Europa League.

In Germany, broadcasting rights for the 2026/27 season remain with RTL Deutschland, including coverage on RTL+ and selected matches on linear television via RTL or NITRO. This marks the final season of this arrangement, as rights for Germany and Switzerland are scheduled to transition exclusively to the streaming provider DAZN starting in the 2027/28 season. The tournament final is set to take place on June 2, 2027, at Beşiktaş-Park in Istanbul.
