SC Magdeburg wins GÜ-Sport HUMMEL Cup handball tournament

SC Magdeburg secured victory at the GÜ-Sport HUMMEL Cup 2026 in Aue, finishing in first place after defeating SC DHfK Leipzig 35:28 in the final.

SC DHfK Leipzig finished the tournament in second place. Following a significant previous victory against SG Flensburg-Handewitt, Leipzig maintained a competitive performance against the German champions, trailing by only two goals at halftime. Head coach Frank Carstens noted that the team's fatigue was evident after an intensive training week and two high-level matches.

SG Flensburg-Handewitt claimed third place after a 45:29 win over the host team, EHV Aue. Despite resting certain players, Flensburg utilized positional attacks with seven field players to control the tempo and focus on defense. The team plans to continue their preseason preparations with the upcoming Wartburg-Cup.
