SC Magdeburg wins season opener and prepares for Bundesliga

Handball champions SC Magdeburg opened their season with a 37:27 victory against GWD Minden. The event featured a ceremony where coach Bennet Wiegert received a state merit order from Minister President Sven Schulze, alongside celebrations for the club's U18 European champions.

New signings including Dominik Kuzmanovic and Antonio Serradilla were highlighted, with Kuzmanovic performing strongly in goal. However, the match saw an injury to youth player Oskar Pakebusch, who required assistance from captain Magnus Saugstrup after a collision.

Magdeburg is currently participating in the Wartburg-Cup to prepare for the upcoming Bundesliga season. Their schedule includes matches against TBV Lemgo, ThSV Eisenach, and SG Flensburg-Handewitt. The club's upcoming Super Cup match against Füchse Berlin is scheduled for August 22 in Munich.
