SCA launches training program to address forestry operator shortage

SCA is addressing the forestry industry's shortage of machine operators through a specialized 22-week training program. To encourage recruitment, the company provides participants with a salary during their studies and facilitates early matching with potential employers.

The curriculum includes simulator training followed by practical experience using various machinery brands, including Ponsse, Komatsu, and John Deere. The program concludes with a five-week internship. According to Anna Bylund, head of business development for the production function, the initiative was designed to combat the challenge of an aging workforce and upcoming retirements within the sector.

Following the initial phases of the program, eleven new operators have graduated, with nearly all securing employment. A fifth training cohort commenced on August 10.
