Scabies outbreak reported at La Granadilla nursing home in Badajoz

Five residents at the La Granadilla elderly care facility in Badajoz remain isolated following a scabies outbreak. According to the Junta de Extremadura's Department of Health, the affected individuals are in good health and are being kept in isolation as a preventive measure to stop the spread of the disease.

Health authorities have activated protocols established by the Extremadura scabies surveillance protocol and the National Epidemiological Surveillance Network (RENAVE). In coordination with the Badajoz Area Health Directorate, officials have initiated a contact tracing study to identify individuals who had close contact with the infected residents. This process includes prophylaxis for identified contacts and medical monitoring to detect potential symptoms.
