SCAD AnimationFest celebrates 10 years of industry talent and film previews

The SCAD AnimationFest recently celebrated its 10th anniversary at the SCADshow theater in Atlanta. The event featured screenings, panels, and award ceremonies honoring Ralph Farquhar, Bruce W. Smith, and Joel Crawford. During the festival, Warner Bros. Pictures Animation provided a preview of ‘The Cat in the Hat’, an upcoming animated theatrical feature scheduled for release on November 6, 2026. The film will utilize a mix of 2D and 3D hand-drawn illustrations with CG work to depict different worlds.

Additionally, the SCAD Savannah Film Festival hosted the fifth annual ‘Pixels and Pencils’ panel presented by Variety. This panel features prominent directors from major studios including Netflix, Pixar, DreamWorks Animation, and Laika. The event has established a reputation as a significant platform for animated films on their path to Academy Award recognition, with many past panelists going on to present Oscar-nominated works.
