12-year-old stabbed in Naples' Ponticelli district

A 12-year-old boy was wounded with two stab wounds to the abdomen after a fight with a 13-year-old in the Conocal area of the Ponticelli district, eastern Naples. He was taken to Villa Betania Hospital, where doctors said his injuries were not life‑threatening and he was discharged after a ten‑day observation period. Police from the Ponticelli Carabinieri station identified the 13‑year‑old as the assailant; because of his age he cannot be prosecuted and will be reported to the juvenile authorities. During the same investigation officers also arrested a 32‑year‑old local man who was found in possession of about 50 g of hashish, which was seized along with additional material at his home. No link between the drug arrest and the stabbing has been established. The case has heightened local concern about rising youth violence in the neighbourhood.
