Scams cost victims nearly 6 million forints in Hungary's Fejér County

Three residents of Fejér County fell victim to telephone and internet fraud, losing a total of almost 6 million forints. The scams involved requests for personal data, remote‑access software, and purchases of gift‑cards, with one case alone causing over 2 million forints in damage.

Authorities warned that banks and official agencies never ask for card details, PINs, or verification codes over the phone, and urged the public not to install unsolicited applications or buy gift‑cards for debt repayment. Victims are advised to end suspicious calls, contact their bank directly, and report incidents to emergency services.
