Scandiano implements temporary ordinance for historic center safety
The Municipality of Scandiano has implemented a temporary ordinance, effective until September 30, to improve urban decorum, public safety, and quiet in the historic center. The measure aims to address issues reported by citizens during the summer season, including excessive crowding, irresponsible alcohol consumption on streets, littering, broken glass, and noise disturbances.
Under the new regulations, local food shops must close by 20:00. Additionally, between 20:00 and 05:00, the sale, service, and takeaway of any beverages in glass or metal containers are prohibited in specific streets of the historic center.
Mayor Matteo Nasciuti stated that the measure is not intended to penalize local businesses or associations. Consumption remains permitted inside establishments, in authorized outdoor spaces, and during officially sanctioned municipal events. The goal is to balance the vitality of the historic center with the quality of life for residents.
