Scandinavian football federations declare no trust in FIFA President Gianni Infantino

Six Scandinavian football federations—Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and the Faroe Islands—have issued a joint statement declaring they no longer trust FIFA President Gianni Infantino. Meeting in Helsinki, the federations expressed deep concern regarding the organization’s leadership and decision-making processes.

The group aligned itself with the calls for Infantino’s resignation made by UEFA, the AFC, and CONCACAF. They are specifically demanding an independent external investigation into the controversial FIFA Forward Enterprise proposal, which involved plans to sell stakes in major tournaments like the World Cup to private investment funds.

Additionally, the federations are seeking binding guarantees from FIFA to ensure that private ownership of football tournaments is not permitted in the future. The Danish Football Association (DBU) has already stated its intention to seek a credible alternative candidate for the 2027 presidential elections.
