Scandinavian horror series Färjan to debut on television

The Swedish horror series Färjan (The Ferry), based on Mats Strandberg’s bestselling novel ‘Krwawy rejs’, is making its television debut. The six-episode series follows a voyage from Sweden to Finland aboard the Prom Baltic Charisma, where a celebration turns into a nightmare as a supernatural evil emerges among the 1,200 passengers.

The plot centers on Edith, played by Tuppence Middleton, who desperately searches for her vampire son, Walter, played by Kolbjörn Skarsgård. The production features an international cast including Björn Bengtsson, Jessica Grabowsky, and Orlando Wahlsteen. The series is directed by Jonas Alexander Arnby and involves Mats Strandberg and Chris Andrews.

In addition to this new release, Scandinavian crime dramas continue to be a major cultural export, with classics like ‘The Bridge’ (Bron/Broen) remaining influential in the Nordic noir genre.
