Scania Irizar i6S wins Sustainable Bus Award for coach category

The Scania Irizar i6S Efficient PHEV has won the coach category at the 2027 Sustainable Bus Awards. Presented in Madrid, the awards recognize innovation and sustainability within the global bus and coach industry.

The winning plug-in hybrid model features a 338 kW Scania Super 13-litre engine paired with two 145 kW electric machines and an 89 kWh lithium-ion battery. According to Scania, the platform can reduce fuel consumption by up to 47 percent under favorable operating conditions and can deliver emission reductions of up to 94 percent in long-distance operations. The vehicle offers an electric driving range of up to 70 km for the three-axle configuration and up to 80 km for the two-axle variant.

Other major winners included BYD in the Intercity section and Solaris in the Urban category.
