SCANJ urges EU to address political incidents in Montenegro

The Alliance of Diaspora Associations in Germany (SCANJ) has called upon members of the European Parliament and European Union institutions to address political developments in Montenegro. The organization expressed concern regarding the public use of Chetnik symbolism, the glorification of the Chetnik movement, and historical revisionism within the country's political sphere.

SCANJ specifically highlighted inappropriate behavior within the Parliament of Montenegro, including provocative gestures toward political opponents. The diaspora organization questioned the institutional responsibility of EU partners, noting that as a candidate for EU membership, Montenegro's political culture should align with European values of democracy and the rule of law. They urged EU representatives to clarify whether such extremist ideologies and parliamentary conduct are acceptable on the path to European integration.
