Óscar Bernàcer premieres rural thriller ‘Eixam’

Director Óscar Bernàcer is premiering his debut feature film, ‘Eixam’, a rural thriller exploring themes of power, freedom, and social systems. Set in the self-managed community of Malpàs, the story follows Lluc (played by Pablo Molinero), a man who has lost everything and seeks refuge in an isolated village that appears to be in harmony.

As Lluc integrates into the community, he encounters Alba (played by Cristina Fernández Pintado), the community's leader. The narrative reveals that this apparent utopia is built upon secrets, manipulation, and violence. The film was shot in locations including Bejís, Chelva, and Calles.

Cast members and creators have described the production process as a collaborative effort, with actors using character biographies to navigate the mysteries of the micro-society. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on September 4, distributed by À Contracorriente Films.
