Óscar Carias Sobrino assumes command of BHELA I in Almagro

Lieutenant Colonel Óscar Carias Sobrino has assumed command of the Attack Helicopter Battalion I (BHELA I) at the ‘Coronel Sánchez Bilbao’ helicopter base in Almagro, Ciudad Real. The change of command ceremony, which saw Carias succeed Lieutenant Colonel Jorge Aguado, was presided over by Brigadier General Pablo Muñoz Bermudo, head of the Army's Aeromobile Forces (FAMET).

The event was attended by various civil and military authorities, including Blanca Fernández, the delegate of the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha in Ciudad Real. Fernández expressed institutional support for the battalion and the Spanish Armed Forces, praising the unit's professionalism and commitment.

For Carias Sobrino, the appointment marks a significant personal milestone, as he previously served in the same unit as a professional soldier. In his inaugural address, he emphasized a leadership model based on example, hard work, and trust, stating his desire for the unit to work by conviction rather than obligation.
