Óscar López to hold ministerial post while seeking Madrid presidency

Óscar López, the Spanish Minister for Digital Transformation and Civil Service, has announced that he will maintain his ministerial position while pursuing a candidacy for the Presidency of the Community of Madrid. López, who also serves as the Secretary General of the PSOE-M, stated that he will continue to hold both roles as long as Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez permits.

López drew a comparison to his political rival, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, noting that she simultaneously holds the regional presidency and the leadership of the Madrid PP. During his remarks, López also criticized the regional government's economic model and its refusal to accept debt relief or a new financing model, highlighting that Madrid's public universities are currently relying on loans to remain operational.
