Óscar Puente faces high disapproval in Spain as Ecuador debates health reforms

In Spain, CIS quarterly evaluations show that Minister Óscar Puente faces significant public disapproval. Between July 2025 and July 2026, his average rating remained stable between 3.9 and 4.3. Notably, 40% of respondents who recognize him gave him the minimum rating of '1, very bad,' representing the highest rejection rate among the 21 government members. This level of disapproval persisted despite the Adamuz railway accident in January.

In Ecuador, discussions regarding the public health system highlight institutional deficiencies and high management turnover. The current minister has attributed these issues to poor management and corruption. Proposals to improve the system suggest appointing trained professionals, such as health administrators and epidemiologists, to key positions to ensure better planning and execution of health policies.
