Scarborough Port Truck Near-Miss Involving MV Golden Carrier
A truck loaded with concrete blocks broke loose on the ramp of the MV Golden Carrier at Trinidad's Port of Scarborough. The driver claimed the vehicle rolled backward, threatening a woman inside a nearby car, and said he applied the brakes to avert a fatal crash.
The Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago investigated the incident and rejected the driver’s account, stating the truck had been stationary before moving backward because its parking brake was not engaged. Security footage showed no person was struck or injured, and the claim of a near‑fatality was deemed unverified and exaggerated.
