Scarborough Railway Station to undergo £6.68m redevelopment
Redevelopment work on the £6.68 million Scarborough Railway Station Gateway project is scheduled to begin early next year following recent planning approval. The project aims to transform the station forecourt, creating a new public space and improving one of the town's primary entry points.
The redesign will include improved pedestrian routes, new seating areas, resurfaced footpaths, and tree planting. Additionally, the scheme will enhance key facilities such as taxi access and disabled parking to strengthen the station's role as a public transport hub. North Yorkshire Council expects the project to act as a catalyst for further investment and regeneration within the coastal town.
