Scarlet Lady cruise ship collision in Rhodes leads to legal action

On the evening of September 30, 2026, the cruise ship Scarlet Lady drifted from its berth at the central port of Rhodes after mooring lines snapped during heavy seas. The vessel subsequently collided with the passenger catamaran King of Rhodes.

The owner of the King of Rhodes filed a request for the precautionary seizure of the Scarlet Lady, seeking at least 400,000 euros in damages. Reported damages to the catamaran include broken mooring lines, a damaged boarding ladder, and potential unseen structural damage to the hull and propulsion system.

The Scarlet Lady was eventually permitted to depart on October 1, 2026, following the submission of a letter of guarantee from the insurance company Skuld. Legal proceedings regarding the incident are expected to continue, with a court hearing scheduled for February 23, 2027.
