Scarlino animal shelter volunteers protest dog transfers

Volunteers at the La Botte animal shelter in Scarlino have launched an online petition to protest the transfer of dogs owned by the Municipality of Massa Marittima to a facility in Ribolla. The petition has gathered nearly 800 signatures in a few days, including support from international residents.

While the initial group of dogs scheduled for relocation consisted of 18 animals, the number has decreased to 13 following five last-minute adoptions. Despite these adoptions, volunteers remain opposed to the move, describing the relocation as a "deportation." They argue that changing the environment will cause trauma to the animals, particularly those who have built strong bonds with current staff and caregivers.
