Scarlino group calls for mosquito disinfestation plan

The local group Scarlino nel Cuore is calling on the municipality of Scarlino to implement an immediate mosquito disinfestation plan following numerous citizen reports regarding high mosquito populations in the town's districts.

Factors such as standing water, drains, and untreated green areas, combined with warm and humid September weather, have exacerbated the issue. The request comes amid a Dengue fever outbreak in the area between Piombino and Baratti, where over twenty cases have been confirmed since August. While authorities state the situation is monitored and under control, the group is urging the administration to provide larvicidal and adulticidal treatments, clean drains, and communicate preventative practices to residents to ensure public health and quality of life.
