Schaan brewery to become new cultural hub Kulturbrauerei
The future Kulturbrauerei in Schaan was presented to the public for the first time during Europe Monument Day. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture Sabine Monauni and Patrik Birrer, Head of the Office for Culture, inaugurated the event at Feldkircher Strasse 43.
The historic building, known locally as the ‘Bierhüsle’, was originally the Quaderer brewery built in 1887. After facing potential demolition in 2021, the municipality of Schaan acquired the property, and it was added to the cultural heritage register in 2023. The site is being transformed into a cultural institution that combines industrial history with contemporary art.
Renovations are currently underway, with an official opening scheduled for November 14, 2026. Starting in early 2027, the facility will host an artist-in-residence program, providing living and working spaces for twelve artists from Liechtenstein and abroad. The complex will include residential studios, communal workspaces, and a renovated historic cooling cellar.
