Schagen updates municipal waste collection policy

The municipality of Schagen is entering a new phase of its waste management policy. Starting in October, residents in several villages will see changes to how paper and residual waste are collected. HVC will provide specific information to households regarding their new collection schedules.

In Warmenhuizen, the municipality has decided to delay the rollout to allow more time for preparation and to address concerns raised by local village councils and residents. Alderman Heleen Stoelinga-Souman stated that the goal is to listen to residents to ensure a system that works effectively while promoting the reuse of valuable raw materials.

The policy changes aim to increase sustainability by making it easier to separate paper and cardboard, aligning with national goals to increase recycling and reduce the incineration of residual waste.
