Schalke 04 faces squad trim as Moussa Sylla stays and Edin Dzeko's contract hangs in balance

Striker Moussa Sylla impressed in Schalke 04's training camp in Austria, scoring against FC Kharkiv and confirming his desire to remain with the club despite previous transfer speculation. Coach Miron Muslic noted the squad has become oversized after recent signings, including Maximilian Wöber, and indicated that peripheral players such as Max Grüger, Finn Porath, Anton Donkor and Zaid Tchibara are likely to be released.

Meanwhile, the club’s negotiations with veteran forward Edin Dzeko are ongoing. Sport director Frank Baumann said talks are focused on contractual terms, with Schalke offering up to €1.3 million per year, but a departure remains possible. The outcome will shape the striker’s role for Schalke’s upcoming Bundesliga season.
