Schalke 04 lifts promotion trophy; Kenan Karaman named 2. Bundesliga Player of the Season

FC Schalke 04 secured the 2. Bundesliga championship and promotion to the Bundesliga after a 1‑0 victory over Eintracht Braunschweig on the final matchday. Around 60,000 fans celebrated at the Gelsenkirchen arena with confetti, music and an hour of free beer. Captain Kenan Karaman hoisted the league trophy and was subsequently chosen by the German Football League (DFL) as the Player of the Season, having contributed 14 goals and five assists in 32 league appearances.

Coach Miron Muslic praised Karaman as an indispensable leader, while club sport director Frank Baumann highlighted the challenge of re‑establishing Schalke in the top flight. The club’s historic promotion ends two seasons in the second division and sets the stage for a new Bundesliga campaign.
