Schalke 04 midfielder Dejan Ljubičić sidelined with knee injury

Schalke 04 has officially confirmed that midfielder Dejan Ljubičić will be sidelined “until further notice” due to a left knee injury. The injury occurred in the 21st minute of Schalke’s 3-1 victory over Union Berlin last Friday.

Ljubičić, who joined from Dinamo Zagreb in January, has been a key starter for manager Miron Muslić this season. The club has not disclosed the specific severity of the injury or the expected duration of his absence. It remains uncertain if the 28-year-old will be fit for the match against Freiburg on October 11.

Due to the injury, Ljubičić will also miss international duty with the Austrian national team, as manager Ralf Rangnick did not include him in the squad for upcoming Nations League matches against Israel, Kosovo, and Ireland.
