Schalke 04's Frank Baumann discusses transfer strategies

Frank Baumann, sporting director at Schalke 04, discussed the club's current challenges and financial strategies in an interview. He noted that most clubs are now forced to rely on transfer surpluses as a core business model rather than just a last resort.

Addressing the team's recent performance, Baumann touched upon the squad's age and the management of key players like Mertcan Ayhan and Vitalie Becker. He indicated a desire to retain certain players to facilitate potential increases in market value while navigating the pressures of maintaining league status.
