Schermclub Excalibur offers free fencing lessons in Herzele

Schermclub Excalibur in Herzele is offering two months of free fencing lessons during September and October. The initiative, organized in collaboration with the municipal sports service, is open to both children aged 8 and older and adults.

Participants can join training sessions every Tuesday evening at the Sportpark De Steenoven parquet hall. To participate, individuals must apply for the official Herzele municipal sports pass, which is available free of charge through the local sports service. The program is not limited to residents of Herzele; people from surrounding municipalities are also welcome to participate.

Club president Pieter Vandesande noted that no prior experience is required, as participants will learn basic foil fencing techniques step-by-step. The club will provide all necessary equipment for the trial period, including masks, vests, and foils. The club also offers integrated G-sport services to accommodate athletes with disabilities or psychological vulnerabilities.
