Schiaparelli leads shift toward sculptural footwear trends for 2026

Fashion trends for 2026 are shifting toward highly expressive and sculptural footwear. Moving away from the recent focus on simple loafers and ballet flats, upcoming collections emphasize statement pieces designed to be noticed.

Schiaparelli is a leading example of this movement. For their autumn-winter 2026–2027 ready-to-wear collection, the fashion house introduced footwear featuring sculpted animal heads, such as cats and dogs, using a trompe-l’œil style. These pieces, crafted from resin and felt, function as a blend of footwear, sculpture, and surrealist accessories.

This direction continues the legacy of Elsa Schiaparelli’s passion for surrealism, a tradition maintained by Daniel Roseberry through the use of exaggerated shapes, three-dimensional details, and unexpected colors.
