Schichtwechsel initiative promotes inclusion through workshop work
As part of the nationwide ‘Schichtwechsel’ (Shift Change) action day, officials and representatives from various sectors participated in workshops for people with disabilities to exchange professional experiences and gain insight into the daily routines of employees with impairments.
In Landstuhl, Kaiserslautern District Commissioner Peter Schmidt worked in the Westpfalz-Werkstätten of the Ökumenisches Gemeinschaftswerk Pfalz. He joined the assembly group to perform tasks such as folding boxes and applying labels, experiencing firsthand the structured and supportive environment provided to the employees.
Similarly, in Mitterteich, representatives from town halls, authorities, and companies worked at the KJF-Werkstätten. This included Mayor Stefan Grillmeier, who participated in tasks such as packing emergency kits, facilitating a direct exchange between people with and without disabilities.
