Schiit Audio unveils Magni 6 headphone amplifier for $99

Schiit Audio has announced the release of the Magni 6, a new desktop headphone amplifier priced at $99. The company also offers a version including a Mesh 2 DAC for $169.

According to co-founder Jason Stoddard, the lower price point is made possible by the company moving board construction to its own SMD assembly line in Corpus Christi, Texas. This increased efficiency allows for more features at a reduced cost compared to previous models.

The Magni 6 provides 3 watts per channel into 32 ohms, representing a 20% increase in power over its predecessor. Technical features include a discrete current-feedback output stage, a 100% linear power supply, and microprocessor-controlled protection. The device also incorporates Halo motion-feedback technology via a 4.4mm headphone output.

Operational updates include front-panel aluminum buttons for input selection, gain, and preamplifier output control, utilizing sealed relay switching. The preamplifier outputs can now be independently activated or deactivated, allowing users to switch between headphones and powered desktop monitors.
