Schindler legacy highlighted in German cultural events
Various cultural events in Germany are highlighting the history and legacy of Oskar and Emilie Schindler.
In Koblenz, the Christlich-Jüdische Gesellschaft Koblenz e. V., in cooperation with the Jüdische Kultusgemeinde Koblenz and the Landesbibliothekszentrum Rheinland-Pfalz, hosted an evening focused on the value of civil courage. Biographer Professor Erika Rosenberg-Band presented new insights into Emilie Schindler, noting that her life in Argentina was more reclusive than depicted in the film ‘Schindler’s List’, despite her significant role in saving Jewish people during the Nazi era.
Additionally, students from the Freie Waldorfschule Chiemgau are performing a play titled ‘Oskar Schindlers Liste’ by Florian Battermann. The performances are scheduled for October 9 and 10 in Prien, depicting how the German entrepreneur transitioned from seeking profit to risking everything to save his Jewish workers during World War II.
