Schiphol Airport Kaagbaan runway closed for annual maintenance

The Kaagbaan runway at Schiphol Airport will be largely out of service from Monday, September 21, through Tuesday, September 29, for scheduled annual maintenance. During this period, aircraft will be diverted to other runways, including the Zwanenburgbaan, Aalsmeerbaan, and Buitenveldertbaan. Depending on wind conditions and traffic volume, the Schiphol-Oostbaan may also be utilized.

Maintenance activities, conducted in collaboration with construction company Heijmans, include inspecting and repairing asphalt and markings, checking electrical systems and cabling, flushing drainage systems, cleaning or replacing runway lights, and mowing surrounding grass fields. The work is necessary to ensure the runway remains safe and in good condition.

While the runway will be available for use during the weekend of September 26 and 27, the shift in flight paths may result in increased air traffic over parts of Haarlemmermeer and surrounding regions. Schiphol has acknowledged the potential impact on local residents and is working to execute the maintenance as efficiently as possible.
