Schleswig-Holstein adopts comprehensive antisemitism action plan

The cabinet of Schleswig-Holstein has approved a comprehensive action plan to combat antisemitism and promote the visibility of Jewish life. The plan includes over 100 measures spanning education, security, and law enforcement.

Key initiatives include enhanced antisemitism prevention in schools, new training programs, the appointment of antisemitism officers at state universities, and better consideration of Jewish holidays during examinations. The plan also aims to establish reliable support structures and contact points for those affected.

Gerhard Ulrich, the Commissioner for Jewish Life and Against Antisemitism, noted that while reported incidents saw a slight decrease compared to 2024, the nature of the offenses has become more targeted and violent. He emphasized that antisemitism is an attack on human dignity and a threat to democracy. Culture Minister Dorit Stenke and Minister-President Daniel Günther also supported the plan, highlighting education and a strong judiciary as essential tools to protect Jewish life and social cohesion.
