Schleswig-Holstein bus services resume after two-day strike

Public bus services in Schleswig-Holstein have resumed following a two-day warning strike. Transportation has returned to normal in the cities of Kiel, Lübeck, Flensburg, and Neumünster, as well as in the district of Plön.

The strike, called by the union Verdi, involved approximately 1,800 public transport employees and 200 workers in the Plön district. The industrial action was a response to failed collective bargaining negotiations held in early September.

Verdi is seeking a 6.5 percent wage increase over a 12-month period, along with an annual benefit of 650 euros for union members. Further negotiations for the public transport sector are scheduled for September 22, with an additional meeting set for September 29. Negotiations regarding the nationwide railway collective agreement are expected to continue on October 5.
