Schleswig-Holstein police commission new ‘Odin 97’ maritime vessel
The Special Deployment Forces (SEK) of the Schleswig-Holstein State Criminal Police Office have officially commissioned a new high-performance vessel named ‘Odin 97’. The boat was christened in Kiel by Interior Minister Magdalena Finke.
The vessel is designed to enhance police capabilities in the Kiel Fjord, the Baltic Sea, and various ports. Minister Finke noted that Schleswig-Holstein’s position between two seas makes it a hub in the Baltic Sea region, increasing its exposure to hybrid threats. The new boat is intended to protect citizens, ports, and maritime critical infrastructure.
The ‘Odin 97’ is described as a fast and maneuverable vessel capable of exceeding 40 knots (approximately 74 km/h), allowing special forces to respond quickly to threats over large distances.
