Schlitz hosts leadership seminar for volunteer firefighters

The “Führungsbaustein A” seminar was held at the fire station in Schlitz, focusing on the human and interpersonal aspects of leadership within the volunteer fire department. Jointly offered by the Vogelsbergkreis and the Hessian State Fire School, the training targeted members who have completed group leader training or hold higher leadership responsibilities.

Led by experts Martin Lutz and Gunho Rihm through the FeuerwehrAgentur, the intensive seminar emphasized self-reflection, clear communication, and conflict resolution. To foster an open learning environment and facilitate discussion regarding the balance between volunteer service, professional life, and private life, participants attended the sessions in civilian clothing under the motto “Uniform off, personality on.”

District Fire Chief Andreas Leinweber noted that modern leadership requires more than tactical proficiency, stating that leaders must be able to listen, understand their teams, and see the individuals behind the emergency gear.
