Schloss Schönbrunn installs 80-year-old spruce for Christmas market

An 80-year-old, 22-meter-tall spruce tree has been installed in the Ehrenhof of Schönbrunn Palace to serve as the centerpiece for the upcoming Christmas market. Harvested from the Breitenfurt district of the Austrian Federal Forests near Pressbaum, the tree traveled approximately 20 kilometers from the Wienerwald to its new location.

The Schönbrunn Christmas market is scheduled to open on November 6, 2026. Organized by Imperial Markets GmbH, this year's event will feature 95 stalls offering culinary treats and traditional handicrafts. New additions to the program include the ‘Sternensalon’ event location with a panoramic terrace, a weekly ice disco, children's crafts, and various musical performances.
