Schloss Waldburg to Host 'Freedom and Imprisonment' Art Exhibition in 2026

Schloss Waldburg will present a travelling art exhibition titled “Zwischen Kerker und einem Hauch von Freiheit” during the summer of 2026. The show, organized by the Ravensburg‑Weingartener Kunstverein, explores themes of liberty and confinement through works displayed across several floors of the historic castle.

The exhibition is part of a cultural partnership between Schloss Waldburg and the nearby Schattenburg in Feldkirch. It reflects on the 1376 Feldkircher Freiheitsbrief granted by Graf Rudolf V. von Montfort, an early milestone in communal self‑determination in the Alpine region. Visitors can view the artworks while touring the castle, linking contemporary artistic interpretations with the historic document.
